Bruce Seabolt

Artist, Art Educator

Bruce Seabolt is a resident artist of Ocean Springs. His paintings depict the life and scenes of Mississippi and the Gulf Coast in general. They have won awards from the Ocean Springs Art Association Exhibitions as well as the Singing River Art Association events in Pascagoula, Mississippi.

While in the US Air Force he studied with The Famous Artists School of Westport, Connecticut and later, after retiring from the US Air Force he studied architectural drafting, in Sturgis, South Dakota. Later in Denver, Colorado he attended the Rocky Mountain College of Art & Design, majoring in fine art and illustration. His paintings have been collected and now are in several other states as well as some other countries.

“He is a painter of realism, or representational art…He paints what he sees.”  Painting life-like realistic scenes is done by going beyond what one sees on the surface. There is a “face” underneath the surface of the scene that will not be noticed from the outside. This might sound a little vague, but this is one of the things he tries to convey when teaching his style of painting. It isn’t for everyone. Katrina stole his material goods but she could not steal his love of the area and the friendships he found here.

Since coming here in 2005 BK, (before Katrina), he discovered a wonderful new place to paint. He hopes his works will continue to keep alive the beauty of the Gulf Coast, the way it was, and hopefully will be.
