Join us for a relaxing day of capturing a moment in nature with talented artist Dr.Rhonda Iris Richmond. Haven’t tried plein air painting before? This is a great place to start! No experience is necessary for the workshop.

En plein air is a French expression meaning “in the open air”, and refers to the act of painting outdoors with the artist’s subject in full view. Plein air artists capture the spirit and essence of a landscape or subject by incorporating natural light, color, and movement into their works.

This workshop will start at Ethotera Art Studio, where the instructor will show examples and discuss painting techniques before moving on to the plein air location. Materials will not be included. Seasoned painters are welcome to bring their own materials and equipment, while beginners will have the opportunity to purchase a supply kit comparable to the materials Dr.Richmond uses with her own plein air kit.

A picnic lunch will be provided but you are free to bring your own nibbles and beverages. This workshop will be on Saturday, January 13th from 9 AM to 2 PM. Participants are welcome to stay after the workshop and continue discussions or painting at the venue.

Please bring a camping or foldable chair with you. We will primarily be working in our laps but you are also welcome to bring an easel.
